changelog
strata changelog prints the release notes carried inside the binary. No network, and no chance of reading notes for a different version than the one installed.
strata changelogOne release at a time, when you know which one you care about:
strata changelog --version 1.2.0Why this is a command and not a link
The question it answers is usually "what changed between the version I had and the version I have now", and that is asked on a machine where the answer is already installed. Reading notes from a website adds a way to get it wrong: the page describes the newest release, which is not necessarily yours.
Pair it with doctor, which tells you which version you are actually running, and with update --check, which tells you whether there is a newer one.
Scripting it
--json returns the same content as a document, which is what to use when something else has to decide whether an upgrade is worth taking.
strata --json changelog --version 1.2.0An unknown version is an error rather than empty output, so a typo in a script fails rather than quietly reporting that nothing changed. The error names every version this build documents, which is also the quickest way to see how far back its notes go.
